Meet Andrew, our expert tailor at Jermyn Street, specialising in made-to-measure orders.
Andrew grew up in Greenwich, London, and studied engineering before entering the world of fashion. Though the two seem unrelated, his degree definitely laid the foundations for his expertise in made-to-measure tailoring, giving him an eye for precision and structure.
With 32 years of experience in menswear under his belt, Andrew has worked with some of the most prestigious names in the luxury fashion world, including Dolce & Gabbana, Aquascutum, Loro Piana, Zegna, and Cordings.
What Andrew enjoys most about the job is being able to design and create individual garments for special occasions, weddings in particular. He loves the playful nature of it, being able to experiment with different fabrics and linings to help the groom bring their vision to life. Oliver Brown is proud to use fabrics from the finest mills, such as Holland & Sherry, and Standeven, the same mill used by our British monarchy.
A typical day for Andrew is a balance of meeting with clients, measuring customers for their MTM garments, and liaising with cloth merchants to explore their new collections. He is also currently working on new samples for the Piccadilly store’s window displays.
Upon reflection of the highlights of his career, he describes designing wedding suits as the most rewarding part. He cherishes playing a role in such a special occasion, as he knows that a man’s wedding suit is one that will hold great importance for many years to come.
Outside of tailoring, Andrew is passionate about real estate. He is currently building a new house in Georgia, just off the coast of Turkey, a very exciting project for him and his family.
Looking ahead, Andrew is excited about what 2025 holds for made-to-measure tailoring, particularly as wedding season approaches. Appointments are now being taken for 2025 so we encourage you to book as soon as possible - especially while our 30% off made-to-measure orders offer still applies til the end of January!
