Autumn Winter 2023 Limited-Edition Tweed Collection - Exclusively Designed by Oliver Brown.

Introducing the new Autumn/Winter 2023 Off - Duty Collection, a tribute to British country living, inspired by the tranquil landscapes of the countryside and merging this with the tradition of British tailoring. At the core lies our Limited-Edition Tweed' collection, the use of fine materials takes the lead, we embraced heritage and craftsmanship once again with this seasons annual tweed; The Nailhead Tweed in Cool Sage. Woven by the renowned ‘The Home of Tweed Lovat Mill, situated alongside the serene river Teviot, in the charming town of Hawick within Scotland's scenic borders.

The Inspiration Behind our  Nailhead Tweed

This season’s Annual Tweed finds its origins in a bespoke customer request for Plus Fours with suede trim, which was inspired by a Scottish Island weaver’s cloth. In collaboration with Lovat's designers, the cloth was exclusively designed by Oliver Brown's owner Kristian and Bespoke Head Cutter Mike Deans; this Lovat Mill-made fabric weighs 14oz, striking a perfect balance between form and function. Blending British Cheviot woollen yarn and fine Merino worsted, offering both comfort and durability, a blend that caters for both country sports and tailored fashion.

The Nailhead design, woven in cool sage, ivory, and black hues, reflects the serene beauty of the British countryside, embracing the heather-blanketed moors and heathland of the country. A combination reflecting both quality and style, allowing the Nailhead Tweed piece to be timeless.

The making of the tweed

Lovat Mill is the ideal collaborator for our Limited-Edition Tweed collection as they are known for Tweed excellence, renowned worldwide for its commitment design and quality. The very term "Tweed," originated mere steps away from the Lovat Mill on Commercial Road. In 1826 the weaver William Watson & Sons played an indirect role in naming 'Tweed' - when a label on a shipment of "Tweels" (Scots dialect for twill) from the Scottish weaver was sent to a London cloth merchant was misread. It made perfect sense to London cloth merchant, as these fabrics were primarily favoured by gentlemen for their pursuits in shooting and fishing, with the river Tweed nearby.

“Tweed” is one of Scotland’s greatest gifts to the World, with its richness of colour twists and yarn mixtures capturing the very essence of the Border landscape. - Lovat Mill

Alan Cumming, Design Director at Lovat Mill comments on our Anniversary Tweed.

"The construction was originally developed by our “Home of Tweed” predecessors over 100 years ago to make the traditionally heavier tweeds more appropriate for the export market. The lambswool provides the characteristic tweed colour mixtures while the worsted allows for the cloth to be of a lighter construction without forfeiting performance."
